Intensive Reading Program (IRP)

Fairfield High School has combined the important literacy skills of reading, writing, phonemic awareness and comprehension, to pull together the dynamic program of IRP.

 During Term 2 all Year 7 are participating in IRP, period 1, every day. Students are in small groups with teachers who have been trained in the delivery and expectations of IRP. Each morning students:

• Come together with their IRP teacher to eagerly complete a range of literacy activities
• Take control of their learning as they work collaboratively
• Complete a range of literacy activities; word attack strategies, reading for meaning, composing responses, playing literacy games

This is the third year FHS has conducted this program for Year 7 students. Hard working staff and students hope this year's Year 7 results and growth in reading will be as outstanding as in previous years. See the gallery for more photos
