

The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
By studying mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.

The most important thing to the staff at Fairfield High School is that students freely investigate numbers and patterns to better understand the world around them.
At Fairfield High School, we encourage students to develop a growth mindset about their mathematical ability (and all other things). The idea that we are all capable of learning Mathematics, and that just because we learn faster or slower than another student has very little meaning.
Students should measure themselves by comparing to who they themselves were the day before.
