University of Sydney - Compass Program
This initiative is a partnership between the University of Sydney, the NSW Department of Education and selected secondary and primary schools in Sydney. It aims to encourage primary and secondary school children to participate in higher education. Compass gives many of our students the opportunity to participate in a range of programs and activities focused on promoting attainment and aspiration. They are enlightened by the possibilities available to them through tertiary education. Study days, plays, museum visits and campus tours are just some of the activities.
The University of Sydney's ‘Compass - find your way to higher education' program aims to encourage post-school education to those primary and secondary school children who are traditionally less likely to participate in higher education. Students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to aspire or attain a university education. The key goal of the Compass program is to inspire and attract our students to the university by providing them with cultural and learning experiences to support their educational development and aspirations.
