Senior Studies

At Fairfield High School we strive to provide a variety of opportunities for educational pathways for both Stage 5 and Stage 6.

In Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10) students are provided with the opportunity to study three (3) elective courses. This is in addition to the compulsory English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography and PDHPE courses. These courses count towards the student’s achievement of the Record of School Achievement (ROSA).

In Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) students are provided with many opportunities and pathways. Students must study a compulsory English course. At Fairfield High School we offer Advanced, Standard, English Studies and EALD. We also offer students the opportunity to study Extension 1 and 2 English courses. The students then have the choice of 5 additional subjects including VET courses. Students have the option of studying an ATAR pathway (to allow university entry) or a non-ATAR pathway (to allow students to achieve a Higher School Certificate (HSC). In addition to school based subjects, students have the opportunity to study languages through the Saturday School of Community Languages and Open Languages Australia. Students can also study Vocational and Educational Training courses (EVET) including Nursing through NSW Department of Health and School Based Apprentice and Training courses (SBAT) through KFC and McDonalds.
